Alexios Komnenos is on course to continue his amazing comeback with a run in the Clipper Logistics Boomerang Stakes at Leopardstown on September 9.

The lightly-raced three-year-old colt is set to step up to Group Two company following his success in the Group Three Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown recently.

That was only his second run since returning from an injury that had kept him off the track since July 2016.

The son of Choisir had only gone down by a neck to Churchill in the Tyros Stakes last year and trainer Fozzy Stack was looking forward to taking Aidan O'Brien's subsequent dual Guineas winning colt on again in the National Stakes at the Curragh.

However, not only did Alexios Komnenos have to miss that Group One, but his entire future was in the balance at that stage.

Stack says it is a "miracle" the colt has made a complete recovery and it is all systems go now.

"He's going to run at Leopardstown on Saturday week. We're happy with him," said Stack.
