Former jockey Freddy Tylicki was celebrating as an owner after Insurgence landed a dramatic success at Lingfield.
Tylicki, who was left paralysed from the waist down in a fall at Kempton in October 2016, was on hand to see the gelding he co-owns with Dr Catherine Wills get up in the shadow of the post to claim the Daily Racing Specials At 188Bet Fillies' Handicap.
The James Fanshawe-trained three-year-old had plenty to do, as Bungee Jump opened up a long lead into the straight.
However, Insurgence, who was sent off at 7-2, responded well to Daniel Muscutt's urgings to catch the 20-1 shot close home and win by three-quarters of a length.
"Dan rode a very nice race. He didn't have a good draw, he managed to switch to the inside. It looked like Bungee Jump had got first run, but he quickened up nicely," said Fanshawe. "It's great for Freddy and Dr Wills."
He added: "He took a while to get it together. He's just improved a bit as he's got older.
"That was seven furlongs and today he'd have been suited by a mile. They went very fast and he was the one who was really staying on.
"The million dollar question is can he do it on the turf? He's won two on the all-weather, but his dam's side is on the turf so hopefully he will do."
Tylicki told At The Races: "Big thanks to Dr Wills because she was the one who put me into this partnership.
"He's by Sepoy and we know they get better by age. He was gelded after his third run and that seemed to make it easier for him.
"They went a decent gallop and I thought Dan gave him a brilliant ride to get a good position from a bad draw. I'm delighted."
Oisin Murphy delivered the George Margarson-trained Technological to wear down long-time leader Antonian, ridden by Frankie Dettori, and take the Champions League Betting At 188Bet Novice Stakes in good style.
Indiscretion (20-1) scraped home by a head and a nose, under Richard Kingscote, from 7-2 joint-favourites Last Enchantment and Sweet Symphony in a bunch finish to the Bet & Watch At 188bet.co.uk Fillies' Handicap for trainer Jonathan Portman.
Bookmaker (7-1) landed his fifth course success when taking division one of the Take The Reins Handicap for jockey Kieran O'Neill, just 24 hours after finishing last of eight at the Surrey track.
Leading over a furlong out, John Bridger's eight-year-old got home by a neck under Kieran O'Neill.
Division two went to the John Butler-trained top-weight Mime Dance (100-30 favourite), who was steered to victory by two lengths in the hands of Adam Kirby.
