Time called on Cape Cross stallion duties

Darley has announced the retirement of leading sire Cape Cross due to "fertility problems".
Winner of five of his 19 starts, including the 1998 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, Cape Cross was retired to stud in 2000.
During his illustrious stallion career, the 22-year-old produced the brilliant Sea The Stars, the wonder-mare Ouija Board and last year's Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn.
Sam Bullard, Darley's director of stallions, told www.godolphin.com: "We are approaching the end of March and he has failed to get a mare in foal, so it has been decided that he should be retired from stallion duties.
"Breeders have been kept informed throughout."
