James Tate has earmarked next month's Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot as a potential option for Curragh runner-up Seafront.

The two-year-old was denied a victory on her first start at Pattern-race level on Sunday after being narrowly edged out by Roly Poly in the Grangecon Stud Stakes.

Although she holds a multitude of sales race entries, Tate may take aim at Ascot's Group Three prize on July 23 first.

He said: "Seafront ran really well at the Curragh. Obviously it is a mixture of being delighted and disappointed to get beat by the Aidan O'Brien horse close to the line.

"She seems to be improving with every race. We could stay at six furlongs or we could go up to seven. There are so many options for her, we will just see how she comes out of it.

"She could go for the Debutante back at the Curragh where the winner is going or she could run in an English Listed, Group Three or Group Two race.

"I don't think she likes fast ground and I think she liked the softer ground in Ireland. We could go down the sales race route for her as she only cost 18,000 guineas out of book three at Tattersalls, so she has got no weight in a lot of those sales races.

"She is in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury, but she won't go for that. The owner would like to get some black type, but the sales races are very tempting.

"The Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy is a sales race and is Listed and that ticks both boxes but it isn't until October.

"The Duchess of Cambridge is too soon and the Princess Margaret is a race that has occurred to me. Last year it was run on softish ground and it is definitely an option.

"We are going to have fun placing her."
