Irish ace distressed after Doncaster

Kevin Prendergast insists there's a lot more to come from Dunboyne Express who lost his unbeaten record in the Racing Post Trophy. The son of Shamdaral was having his first race for three months at Doncaster but could finish only fifth behind Casamento. "He was a little bit distressed after the race. It was a long time since he ran," the trainer confirmed "We were a bit disappointed on the day, but we live to fight another day. He got a little bump on leaving the gate and a little bit of interference. "He ran a bit free. They went very slow the first half of the race then they quickened up and left him flat-footed. "I suppose in hindsight for the length of time he was off he ran not too bad a race."

Finished for season

"That's his last run for this year and we're looking forward to next year with him. "I'd say he'll get a mile and a quarter next year. I've not discussed plans with the owner yet. We're going to have a chat this week and see what the score is. We believe there's still lots more to come from him."
