200-1 winner's Chepstow bid depends on the ground

Maoi Chinn Tire, a shock 200-1 winner at Wetherby, is not a certain starter in the Coral Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow on Saturday. The three-year-old was having his first start for Jennie Candlish when winning a Listed contest on his hurdling bow, and the form looks solid with the fifth home, Nicky Henderson's Grandouet, winning in impressive style at Newbury. Maoi Chinn Tire was due to step up to Grade One company this weekend but his jockey Alan O'Keeffe believes the likely testing conditions could scupper his participation. "It all depends on the ground for him and if it's very soft at Chepstow, he wouldn't run," said O'Keeffe. "The weather forecast doesn't look to be in his favour and I'd say it's 70-30 that he won't go. "After Wetherby the plan was to go straight to Chepstow for this race at Christmas, but that was obviously abandoned and it's been moved. "It hasn't really worked in his favour, but we'll see what happens over the next few days. "His home-work was very good before Wetherby, but it was a matter of whether he would stay as he raced over six and seven furlongs on the Flat. "He did it very well on the day and the form looks good with Nicky Henderson's horse coming out and winning since. "We'll see what happens with the ground, but hopefully we'll be out in the next couple of weeks somewhere."
