Acomb fourth set for foreign soils

Acomb Stakes fourth Caledonian Spring could next be seen on foreign soil following a luckless outing at York. Paul d'Arcy's juvenile looked an unlucky loser at the Ebor meeting, having been denied a clear run entering the straight before staying on for fourth. Although Caledonian Spring still holds entries in the Dewhurst and the Racing Post Trophy, his Newmarket-based trainer is also considering the possibility of a cross-Channel raid. D'Arcy said: "It's no good having a post-mortem after a race because you can't run it again - these things happen. "I think he's a very talented horse and if he were to run again at York, we might have had another result. "You've just got to move on to the next race. "Where that is, I'm not sure, as his owner is in Canada and won't be back until next week. "He's entered in a couple of Group Ones, and there's also the option of going abroad - there's a couple of Listed races in France which might suit. "I think a mile won't be a problem whatsoever."
