Hannon ace set for trip abroad
Acomb Stakes runner-up Fort Bastion could travel abroad for his final run of the season after returning to form on the Knavesmire.
The Richard Hannon-trained juvenile had chased home Maybe in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot but was below-par in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.
He was beaten just over a length in the Acomb Stakes by William Haggas' promising Entifaadha and despite his good efforts this year, he remains a maiden.
"We've not really got a plan in mind, we'll just take it one week after another with him," said Barry Simpson, racing manager to owner Sir Robert Ogden.
"It can be a mistake to run a two-year-old too quickly after a good run.
"He's come out of the race well but we won't rush him.
"It's likely that he'll have just one more run this season. There's an outside chance that we might look for a Group race for him abroad, or we could take the easier option and stay at home with him.
"He's still a maiden but it's not just a case of trying to win a race with him, we want to do what's best for the horse as he'll make a three-year-old.
"He reminds me a bit of a horse we had with Tom Dascombe last year, Party Doctor, he ran in lots of good races before he won one.
"Sir Robert wants runners in high-profile races."
