Last year's St Leger winner Arctic Cosmos remains on target for the Pattison Canadian International on October 16 following his encouraging return.
John Gosden's colt sustained a serious leg injury when being prepared for the valuable Woodbine prize 12 months ago and only returned to the track last week at Ascot, finishing a couple of lengths behind impressive Luca Cumani recruit Quest For Peace.
"We were absolutely delighted with him, and don't underestimate the one of Luca's, who is a lovely horse in the making," Charlie Liverton, racing manager for owner Robin Geffen, told
Racing UK.
"We were over the moon to see him run so well on his comeback and, touch wood, he has come out of it absolutely perfectly.
All Systems Go
"Hopefully it's all systems go for Canada next Sunday."
Asked about the possibility of Arctic Cosmos doubling up in the Breeders' Cup, Liverton warned: "I would suggest Churchill Downs would be too tight for him track-wise, but we'll leave that to Mr Gosden."
Geffen also has considerable jumping interests and a high-profile new runner in Kauto Stone, the half-brother to Kauto Star.
Only five and already a Grade One winner in France, he has been sent to Paul Nicholls.
Liverton revealed: "We've pencilled in the intermediate chase at Down Royal in early November and I know Mr Nicholls is gearing him towards that.
"He's a very exciting young horse in making and the champion four-year-old in France and has done everything Mr Nicholls has asked him so far."
