Immortal Verse can improve on her third to Frankel

Robert Collet could be tempted to run Immortal Verse again this year following her creditable third behind Frankel in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. The French raider was unable to trouble Sir Henry Cecil's brilliant colt in the Qipco-sponsored Group One but there was no disgrace in her run with Excelebration splitting the pair in second. Collet feels his star filly was not at her best and although she will not be heading to the Breeders' Cup, there is a chance she could compete in the Far East.

Not 100%

"Immortal Verse did not finish her race off like we know. She had a small problem in her preparation and was not 100%," said Collet. "She still ran OK and even if she was 100%, I don't think we would have beaten Frankel, but I think she can do better than that. "Our first option was not to run her again this year but now her condition is improving, there is a possibility she could go to Hong Kong and Japan. "She won't go to the Breeders' Cup." Collet's other Champions Day runner, Wizz Kid, also ran an excellent race. The three-year-old filly filled the runner-up spot behind Deacon Blues in the British Champions Sprint. "Wizz Kid ran very well and will now go to stud for the winter, but she will be back in training next season," said Collet.
