Ground and trip perfect for leading fancy

Charlie Swan expects Start Me Up to run well in the competitive Goffs Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park on Thursday. The eight-year-old has run just four times over fences but has impressed the last twice, winning at Navan before plugging on to finish third at Limerick over a distance shorter than ideal. "He'll appreciate stepping back up to three miles and he should run a very good race," said Swan. "He beat Berties Dream and Carloswayback in a beginners chase over three miles at Navan last month and they have both won since. "We then ran him over two miles and three (furlongs) at Limerick over Christmas and he was staying on at the finish to get third. "The ground and everything looks right for him, so he should be competitive."
