Preparations continue ahead of Sunday's QE II Cup

Ryan Moore's mount Chinchon is pleasing his trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias as the build-up continues to Sunday's Audemars Piguet QEII Cup in Hong Kong. The Spanish trainer, who is based in France, saw the seven-year-old for the first time since his arrival in the former colony as he completed light exercise on the all-weather. Chinchon is an experienced traveller having raced in the United States, Singapore and Dubai last year while he finished fourth to Presvis in this race in 2009.

Prix Exbury

He won on his seasonal reappearance in last month's Prix Exbury at Saint-Cloud and the trainer has booked the top British jockey for the ride. "He looks well," said Laffon-Parias. "He always travels well and doesn't lose a lot of weight. He suffered a very small hairline fracture in his off fore last year in America, so I was pleased that he ran very well on his comeback. "It was hard for him to come here last time as a four-year-old but he is more mature and better prepared now." Jamie Spencer jets to Sha Tin to ride last year's Irish Derby winner Treasure Beach in the race, and he also impressed workwatchers as he exercised at Sha Tin. Aidan O'Brien's colt was fourth in last month's Dubai Sheema Classic.
