The Richard Hannon-trained Best Terms is bound for Saturday's Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock.
The speedy filly won four times from five starts as a juvenile but has failed to cut the mustard on two starts over seven furlongs this year.
Assistant trainer Richard Hannon junior admits she will have to show up better dropped to five furlongs on Saturday if her racing career is to continue.
He told At The Races: "She's probably going to go to Haydock. She definitely doesn't get seven furlongs and will never get a mile, but she retains all of her speed.
Pulling Stumps
"Hopefully she'll run very well on Saturday and if she doesn't, then we'll have to look at maybe pulling stumps, but she's a very good filly.
"She won a Queen Mary and a Lowther last year, which was unbelievable, so she really owes us nothing.
"We'd like to think she's gone on (from two to three), but it's a much harder game now as a lot of them have caught up with her speed.
"She'll make a lovely broodmare one day, but I'd like to think there's a bit left in her over this shorter trip."
