Danedream and Nova Hawk are set to miss Royal Ascot

Peter Schiergen has revealed that his star filly Danedream will return to France for her next appearance later this month. Last year Danedream became the first German-trained runner to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe since 1975 when scorching clear in a record time. Although only sixth in the Japan Cup, she looked as good as ever on her recent reappearance at Baden-Baden. "We were pleased to see her back and she will run in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on June 24," said Patrick Barbe, racing manager for part-owner Teruya Yoshida. Schiergen has suggested the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot could be on the agenda later in the season.

Nova Hawk

Another of Yoshida's horses with prior British experience is the Rodolphe Collet-trained Nova Hawk, but she appears likely not to take up her place in the Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot. Fourth in last year's 1000 Guineas and second to compatriot Immortal Verse in the Coronation Stakes, she was left with a lot to do when flashing home for fifth behind the classy Moonlight Cloud at Longchamp last Saturday. "She will run in the Prix de la Porte Maillot at Longchamp on June 30," Barbe said.
