So much rain fell on Saturday evening that York City's League Two play-off semi-final first leg against Fleetwood Town at Bootham Crescent had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The racecourse reported that 18 millimetres fell on Saturday and that more rain is forecast on Sunday and Monday before the weather brightens up.
The meeting starts on Wednesday with the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes and the Clipper Logistics Duke of York Stakes highlighting the card.
York's assistant clerk of the course, Anthea Morshead, tweeted: "18mms rain @yorkracecourse last 24 hours. Going now SOFT. 4cast; Further rain & showers Sun & Mon. Drier, brighter & warmer from Tues."
