Elite Army will miss the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster on September 13, trainer Saeed bin Suroor has confirmed.

Godolphin's colt has been prominent in the ante-post betting lists for the final Classic of the Flat season since impressively winning the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

Elite Army has not been in competitive action since then, though, with connections instead having earmarked a return to the fray in October.

Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com: "We gave Elite Army a break after Royal Ascot.

"He is in full training and hopefully will be return to racing in October.

"We will look at a variety of races to give us plenty of options and the Cumberland Lodge (Ascot, October 4) is one of them.
