William Biddick rides Mendip Express in Betfred Becher Chase at Aintree

Mendip Express will be reunited with amateur jockey Will Biddick in Saturday's Betfred Becher Chase at Aintree.

Biddick struck up a great partnership with the Harry Fry-trained eight-year-old in the point-to-point fields and rode him four times last season, only meeting with defeat once in heavy ground behind Smad Place and Sam Winner.

Noel Fehily then took over in the Scottish Grand National when he was pulled up but retained the ride when Mendip Express made a winning reappearance in a novice hurdle at Warwick last month.

With Fehily heading to Sandown to ride Fry's Vukovar in the Tingle Creek Chase, the trainer has no qualms about recalling Biddick to take on the professionals.

"Will Biddick will ride Mendip Express," said Fry.

"He struck up a really good rapport with the horse, originally in his pointing days and early on last season. With Noel going to Sandown for Vukovar it just made sense to have Will on.
