Barry Geraghty taken with No More Heroes

Barry Geraghty has spoken in glowing terms of No More Heroes after partnering him to victory in the Navan Novice Hurdle on Sunday,

Having lowered the colours of Willie Mullins' highly touted Shaneshill, trainer Gordon Elliott is quite rightly plotting a route to the Cheltenham Festival with his exciting prospect.

Geraghty also offered up no excuses for Vaniteux who was second to The New One at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Writing in his blog for At The Races, Geraghty said: "He showed plenty of courage to see off Shaneshill over two and a half miles and although we were headed between the last two it was only by half a length.

"It's a tough climb to the line at Navan on soft ground and we got that lead back quick enough and he handled the conditions well.

"Gordon Elliott knows what he's got and is already thinking about the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle over three miles at Cheltenham."

Referring to The New One, who beat Geraghty's mount Vaniteux by four and a half lengths in the International Hurdle, the rider said: "Talking of Cheltenham, it was impossible not to be impressed with the win of The New One.

"You can't know what he would have happened when he got badly hampered in last season's Champion Hurdle but he's holding a very high level of form at the moment.

"Vaniteux wasn't best suited by the ground but I'm not saying he'd have beaten The New One even if the going had been better. Beat fair and square.

"The other TwistonDavies winner, Blaklion, gave a boost to one that I rode to beat him at the last Cheltenham meeting, Parlour Games.

"Unless for some reason Blaklion didn't turn up that day I'd say that Parlour Games is one to be looking out for over the Christmas period."
