Horse racing news: Jason Maguire recovering after surgery

Jason Maguire is reported to be in good spirits the morning after undergoing a crucial operation to save his career.
Maguire finished second to Tony McCoy in the 2012-13 championship and with the perennial champion now retired, Donald McCain's stable jockey had hoped he could launch a realistic bid for the title.
But having recovered from life-threatening injuries he sustained in a fall on the eve of the 2014 Cheltenham Festival, Maguire suffered the misfortune of another serious back injury at Musselburgh in February and he admitted earlier this week his latest operation was make or break.
Maguire's agent, Chris Broad, said: "I spoke to Jason at around 7.30 this morning and he seemed happy that everything had gone well.
"He hadn't seen the doctor who did the operation when I spoke to him, so obviously he'll be waiting to see what he says.
"I think he was maybe hoping to go home later on tonight and it could be a week or two before he has a full prognosis of how it has gone."
