Further six-day ban for jockey Adrian Heskin

Adrian Heskin has been handed a further six-day ban for his riding of Foxrock at Punchestown in December.

Trainer Ted Walsh and jockey Heskin attracted the attention of the stewards when the horse finished third in a two-mile-six-furlong handicap chase.

Officials on the day accepted explanations the seven-year-old had finished slightly lame and lost both front shoes during the course of the race, although they banned Heskin for a day for not reporting the issues in the first instance.

The case was subsequently reopened and sent to the referrals committee by the Turf Club, after new video footage emerged surrounding the horse's shoes.

After a lengthy hearing, Walsh was cleared of any wrongdoing and while not in breach of any other rule, Heskin was deemed not to have taken all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the "best possible placing".

In giving Heskin a seven-day ban, the referrals committee reduced it to six as he had already served one day. His ban starts in 14 days.
