Danny Tudhope was taken to St Helens Hospital after being kicked in the stomach by a horse at Haydock on Friday.

Tudhope was attempting to mount Haughmond ahead of the EBF Stallions PHS Washrooms Maiden Stakes when his intended mount lashed out.

The horse was withdrawn and Tudhope taken for precautionary X-rays.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright said on Friday: "He got a kick in the stomach.

"He's gone to hospital for precautionary X-rays but, to the best of our knowledge, he is essentially fine."

Tudhope is due to ride G Force in the betfred.com Temple Stakes back at Haydock on Saturday.

Connections of the David O'Meara-trained sprinter expect the jockey to be fit for the Group Two on Merseyside.
