Wicklow Brave could return to the jumping game in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary.

A stunning winner of the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, the six-year-old bolted up on his first two Flat starts and was a hot favourite to complete the hat-trick in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at last month's Royal meeting.

However, although he travelled well into the straight, he finished ultimately well-beaten in fourth place.

Owner Nick Peacock, whose horses with Willie Mullins run under the Wicklow Bloodstock banner, said: "It was disappointing at Ascot, but he just didn't stay and that is the end of it.

"He has a mile-and-a-half pedigree. He'll stay two miles on the Flat, but I don't think he wants a yard further.

"I think he'd stay two and a half miles over hurdles, but two and a half miles on the Flat is a different world.

"We're undecided on what we'll do next. He could go back over hurdles, or he might stay on the Flat.

"There's the race at Tipperary, or if we stay down the Flat route, a race like the Ebor at York wouldn't be out of the question.

"He's a very talented horse and the great thing is he's very versatile ground-wise."

Peacock also had news of Diakali, who has been off the track since finishing fourth in last year's French Champion Hurdle.

"He was injured all last year (season) and nothing went right for him, but he's OK now," said Peacock.

"He's entered on the Flat at Leopardstown this week and there's also the Tipperary race for him.

"There's every chance he could run in one or the other."
