Group One-winning rider Paul Mulrennan is set to miss the first two days of Doncaster's St Leger meeting after picking up a ban at Musselburgh.

Mulrennan, who landed the biggest success of his career on Mecca's Angel in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York last week, will have to sit out September 9 and 10.

The local stewards ruled he had used his whip above the permitted level when finishing second on Jan Smuts in the Download Your Racing UK App Handicap at the Edinburgh track.

Fergal Lynch and Aleksandar just pipped fellow top-weight Jan Smuts in the race and winning trainer Jim Goldie said: "He's deserved a change of luck as he has run a couple of nice races recently. The change to hold up tactics helped too as we'd been front-running with him."

Lexington Place's season just gets better and better and he bagged his fourth race since May under another clever ride from James Sullivan in the five-furlong handicap.

Trainer Ruth Carr said: "We will wait until he is reassessed before deciding where to go and he's not entered up anyway. He handles his races really well and always comes home and eats up. Things fell right again today and the more trouble he gets into the better."

Having to re-plated down at the start didn't affect Wor Lass a bit as Iain Jardine's mare, home-bred by Hawick owner Les Dodds, won her fifth race on the bounce.

Anna Hesketh, on board for the last four wins and losing her 7lb claim as a result of this latest success, said: "She's a pleasure to ride. That's my eighth winner of the season and things are going really well."
