Apprentice Gearoid Brouder hit with long whip ban at Carlisle

Apprentice Gearoid Brouder has been hit with an 11-day suspension for a whip offence following the Whitehaven Rugby Club Handicap at Carlisle.

The 7lb claimer was punished by the local stewards for using his whip above the permitted level on the Clive Brittain-trained Hatsaway after finishing second in the nine-and-a-half-furlong contest.

Brouder's ban runs from September 23 to October 3.

Josh Doyle also fell foul of the stewards after winning the one-mile Andersons (Denton Holme) Sawmills Carlisle Handicap on Ingleby Angel (8-1) for David O'Meara.
