O'Brien to give tips to trainer-to-be

Tony Dobbin will learn from the best as he prepares to enter the training ranks alongside partner Rose Davidson at the end of next year. The jockey, who retires from the saddle on Thursday, will return to Ireland this summer to spend time with the master of Ballydoyle Aidan O'Brien as well as former weighing room colleague Adrian Maguire. "I spoke to Aidan yesterday and he invited me to spend some time with him. I'm definitely going to go to Ballydoyle for a while," said Dobbin. "I might also go and stay with my old friend Adrian Maguire and work with him for a few weeks. "I'm then coming back to work for Kevin Ryan in Yorkshire through the summer. "There's no substitute for experience and it's a great opportunity for me to have a look round," he told At The Races. Dobbin is full of enthusiasm ahead of the new venture, adding: "Obviously the yard will be in Rose's name but it's the most beautiful yard being built in Northumberland and it'll be finished this time next year. "I'd say it'll be the winter of 2009 when we get going properly. It's very exciting now, it's something to get into again."
