Jockey back in action at Scottish venue

Tony Culhane is looking forward to returning to action at Hamilton on Thursday after spending the last 15 months sidelined through injury. The Northern-based jockey damaged his neck and back in a fall at Wolverhampton in April 2007, after which he was banned for a year after being found guilty of aiding or abetting individuals to lay or back horses with the benefit of inside information. However, Culhane appears to be as popular as ever amongst the training community, having ridden out for Mick Channon, William Haggas, Tom Tate, Patrick Haslam and Nigel Tinkler since March. "I just want to get the first winner under my belt, get busy, and ride for the people I enjoy riding for - and those I've been riding for for a lot of years," he said. "My usual people seem to be sticking by me and that's all I can ask for." Channon provides him with two comeback rides on Grit and Deer Daylami, with the jockey adding: "I'm looking forward to it, it's been a long time and I'm raring to go. "I've been very successful with Mick Channon for 10 years and for the first time for a long time I've got no injuries."
