Champion jockey tipping Soldier of Fortune to shine in France

Kieren Fallon says he would choose to ride Soldier Of Fortune in Sunday's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Fallon has won the Longchamp feature twice, aboard Hurricane Run in 2005 and Dylan Thomas last year. And the former Ballydoyle rider says Aidan O'Brien can win the prestigious Group One for the second year in succession, with last year's fifth Soldier Of Fortune. He told attheraces: "He's a year older now, and the ground was against him last year. "This time he's been trained for the race, kept fresh and I think this could be his year. I wouldn't look beyond him if they have a drop of rain.

Banned

"Zarkava would have a big chance in the fillies' race on the same day, but taking on the boys, taking on Soldier Of Fortune, it'll be tough for her." The six-time champion jockey also revealed that he is set for a stint in California ahead of his return next year. The 43-year-old was banned from race riding for 18 months in January for testing positive for a banned substance when riding at Deauville. He has been riding work for Sir Michael Stoute in Newmarket but is now intending on working in the United States during the winter. He said: "I'm going to America for a while to sharpen up. Your work's like a race over there. "I'll go to California, maybe before Christmas. You can work 10 or 15 in the mornings and it's a beautiful place."
