Handicapper to return in high class contest

Oh Crick, who won at both the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals last season, will reappear in the William Hill Haldon Gold Cup on Tuesday. The six-year-old improved on his previous fencing form to land the Grand Annual Chase before following up in the Red Run Handicap Chase. The gelding has gone up a total of 18lb for those wins but trainer Alan King is hoping another summer will bring about further improvement. "It will obviously be tougher for Oh Crick this season, but he saved our Cheltenham Festival and was even more impressive when landing the Red Rum at Aintree," said King on his website. "So with two big wins on his CV I can't complain about the handicapper putting him up 9lb. "He will need to improve, but is only six and he has strengthened through the summer, so he might be capable of doing so. "We have to start somewhere and if Paul Nicholls runs Twist Magic we will get in on 10st 5lb so it looks the perfect race to launch him in."
