Verdict
Planty of future stars line up in the final race of the 2004 meeting, and we turn to Rebel Rhythm as the answer, with Thyne For Intersky, his stablemate Ten Pressed Men, Candello, and Golden Odyssey all considered as possibles. Bingley trainer Sue Smith has been keeping Rebel Rhythm under wraps as he is held in very high regard, and it was not hard to see why when he finally made his debut at Wetherby 12 days ago. The son of Robellino simply oozed class as he sauntered home to the tune of 17 lengths without knowing that he had had a race. Rebel Rhythm should have the beating of Ten Pressed Men on a line through Bishop's Bridge, third at Wetherby, but who had earlier finished in front of Jonjo O'Neill's runner at Kempton. That form is actually very solid, as the winner Toemac went on to score at Taunton on Thursday, so expect improvement from Ten Pressed Men. His stablemate Thyne For Intersky is expected to prove a bigger danger though, as he lines up unbeaten in both starts, at Market Rasen and Carlisle, and has been rested since with this in mind. Nicky Henderson has a rich vein of talent in the bumper department and so the fact that he relies on Candello speaks volumes for the Ludlow winner who makes most appeal of the mares in the field. Golden Odyssey is no slouch though as she has proved, winning two out of her three races, and being Flat-bred, by Barathea out of a Slip Anchor mare, Mary Reveley's filly should be able to produce a turn of foot when needed. Young Scotton is unbeaten and is described by his trainer Kevin Ryan as a 'big raw horse' so the best is yet to come. He and the rest come up against a potentially top-class animal in Rebel Rhythm though, and Sue Smith's charge, a half-brother to 1,000 Guineas runner-up Princess Ellen, is the one to beat.
