Verdict
Algarve ran an encouraging race over course and distance on his reappearance when chasing home Hirapour and is fancied to go one better today with Dunowen and Bathwick Annie rated the main dangers. The last mentioned is well treated for his return having failed to sparkle towards the end of last season and has claims if fit enough, while Dumowen makes his British debut for James Eustace having previously been trained in Ireland and could be interesting. The booking of Mick Fitzgerald for Jack Fuller takes the eye, while Hi Fi has to be respected with the stable of Ian Williams in form. The Richard Phillips-trained Bakiri has to be respected on his flat form but has, so far, disappointed over hurdles and we prefer to side with Algarve. Henry Daly's gelding is lightly raced and remains open to improvement although a reproduction of his latest effort may suffice.
