In depth

Verdict

Thor De Cerisy, having a first run for a new yard, has run three times over fences but only placed once. Martator has disappointed since arriving in the UK but Pembroke, a useful novice hurdler, was only beaten a length on his chasing bow at Uttoxeter. MASTER CHEWY (NAP) was unlucky not to win over hurdles last season. He starts off over fences on a fair mark and his yard is in fine form. General Officer was surprisingly turned over by Chapel Green at Hexham but should reverse that form here on much better terms.

Chapel Green (IRE) 7-2 (11-4) Held up, took closer order and went third after 9th, going best when led last, tired when ridden inside final furlong on run-in, kept on and always doing enough near finish, game, won at Hexham 2m hcp (4) sft in Oct beating General Officer (12-1) by 2 3/4l, 5 ran.
