Verdict

Not one favourite has won in nine years though most winners have been well supported. Robert Cowell has three entries and though Grand Beauty is on a hat-trick he takes a leap in class so stablemates Kingsgate Native, a winner at this level at Haydock in May, and Speed Hawk, who was only just behind him that day and is 3lb better off, look more likely winners. WIND FIRE hasn't won since last summer but has competing with credit at a much higher level. He's been narrowly beaten in Group races in recent weeks and this should be his day. Medicean Man very nearly won the King's Stand Stakes and would be a near certainty on that form but he didn't run nearly as well at Doncaster last time. Dutch Masterpiece hasn't won a race since 2013 but he's produced several decent efforts and could snatch a place.
