In depth

Don't Stare could hardly have won more easily at Doncaster but is taking a big step up in class and will probably start at a big price as he has a mountain to climb in the ratings. Pether's Moon has been running up to Group 2 class throughout the campaign and scored at that level in Turkey last time. He had just over a length to spare when beating ENCKE at Goodwood, though the 2012 St Leger winner was having his first start since Doncaster and will be fitter. The Godolphin entire ran well in the Irish St Leger last month and can get back to winning ways. Parish Hall is well up to this class though is meeting rivals who operate at a higher grade including Energia Fribby. Marco Botti's charge, a Group 1 winner in Brazil, defied a long absence and ground described as tacky to make a successful debut for the yard in a Chester Listed contest and will certainly improve for the outing.

Pether's Moon (IRE) (9-6) won at Veliefendi(TUR) 1m 4f Grp 2 (1) hvy in Sep, 6 ran.

Parish Hall (IRE) 16-1 (9-8) Ran 4th, no extra early straight and dropped to rear 1f out, kept on one pace inside final furlong, 6th of 8, 5l behind Bow Creek (9-3) at Leopardstown 1m Grp 2 (1) gf in Sep.

Don't Stare 11-1 (9-4) Tracked leaders, driven to challenge over 2f out, led over 1f out, ridden clear, impressive, won at Doncaster 1m 2f stks 0-85 (3) gs in Sep beating Enobled (9-4) by 6l, 8 ran.

Encke (USA) 9-1 (9-11) Soon raced in moderate 5th, improved to chase winner from 2f out but no impression, moderate 2nd 1f out and edged left, kept on same pace final furlong and dropped to 3rd near finish, 3rd of 11, 7l behind Brown Panther (9-11) at Curragh 1m 6f Grp 1 (1) gf in Sep.

Energia Fribby (BRZ) 10-3 (8-9) In touch, headway to track leaders 4f out, pressed leader 2f out, led approaching final furlong, driven out, won at Chester 1m 4f Listed stks (1) gd in Sep beating Livia's Dream (8-11) by nk, 7 ran.
