In depth

Verdict

It could pay to stick with AUSTRALIS (NAP) in this as he found only one too good in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last time. Roger Varian’s charge is raised a further 6lb for that but this is an easier task and he has the beating of Sleeping Lion on collateral form. The latter finished runner-up at Newcastle last month while Mondain won over today’s trip at the same track on his penultimate start. Red Force One has won over hurdles since last seen on the Flat but Eddystone Rock landed a double including a course and distance success at the Shergar Cup meeting last summer and makes more appeal. Holy Kingdom and Kaloor could both get involved if lasting home.
