Verdict

Providing he's sent off at no shorter than 4/1 LONDON STRIPE would appeal as a solid betting proposition here although the progressive Dandino and ready maiden winner Tactician are not to be underestimated. Sir Michael Stoute's record with middle-distance handicappers is an excellent one and this Rock Of Gibraltar colt impressed when winning on his return at Newmarket over a mile and a quarter. He should get this extra distance just fine and the handicapper may have let him off lightly with a 5lb rise, especially as the form of his juvenile maiden win has worked out very well indeed. Dandino is unbeaten this term and showed he's not stopped improving yet with an impressive success at Epsom. A 9lb rise makes life tougher and he was suited by the fierce gallop in that contest but he's bred to stay and there may be more to come. Tactician took second behind Coordinated Cut on his debut last term and a mark of 89 appears fair on a literal interpretation of that form. The son of Derby winning sire Motivator won nicely on his return too in a race that has produced a winner, so with this extra distance in his favour has to be considered in the colours of The Queen. Bright Horizon needs to improve to defy this mark in a markedly tougher race that the pair he's won lately so a bigger threat to our shortlist may emerge from Berling who can surely only improve for the extra furlong, perhaps even enough to defy the 9lb rise he's incurred for winning at Newbury. Life And Soul helped force a strong pace at Epsom only to see Dandino sweep past and may struggle to reverse that form despite revised terms, this is a big step up in grade for Agent Archie and similar comments apply to Contract Caterer. A fascinating and difficult to solve finale can go the way of London Stripe.
