Verdict
Mark Johnston, who took this last year with Helm Bank, is double handed this year with Doncaster winner Pearl Of Love and Patterdale, who is the choice of stable jockey Keith Dalgleish. He may have got it wrong. Pearl Of Love along with Tycoon, Unrivalled and Divine Gift look the ones to concentrate on with the latter getting a narrow vote. Jeremy Noseda's colt looked very much in need of the outing on his debut at Newmarket, but shaped surprisingly well behind runaway winner Old Deuteronomy, who was given a 25/1 quote for next years 2000 Guineas on the back of a scintillating debut. Divine Gift is bred to be well suited by this stiffer test as he is a half-brother to a winning hurdler and to 10-furlong winner Sharp Play. Tycoon represents team O'Brien and this half-brother to the smart Half Glance is sure to be all the wiser for his debut. He will take a lot of beating. Pearl Of Love, a wide margin winner at Doncaster is another who will appreciate this stiffer test. Unrivalled and Rio De Jumeirah are both open to plenty of improvement, but will need to.
