Verdict

Last year’s winner Interception is back for more though she hasn’t won since and is 5lb higher today. The progressive BRANDO went close on ground faster than ideal over 5f at York last time but won over today’s trip in soft going last term. Kevin Ryan’s charge should be thereabouts with any further improvement. Spring Loaded has won his last four starts on the all-weather and also scored at Windsor the last time he raced on Turf. He’s preferred to Outback Traveller, who has not won for some time now and his last three wins have been over 7f, but stablemate Toofi could go well on his length defeat in last year’s Ayr Gold Cup when just behind third-placed Ninjago. The latter has a recent run under his belt while George Dryden went close at Ripon on his reappearance. Flash Fire beat Mutawathea over 7f here to land the Victoria Cup last month with Buckstay third but Aidan O’Brien’s The Happy Prince has not won for over a year now. Stablemates Tupi and Coulsty have been competing in pattern company and are both fitted with blinkers for the first time while Absolutely So was well beaten in this last year off a lower mark. The reserves Mr Lupton and Huntsmans Close are others with claims if taking part.
