Verdict

The going could blunt the speed of Goodwood winner Elarqam, who carries a penalty. The globe-trotting Magic Wand hasn’t won since landing the Ribblesdale here last year and, while effective over this trip, is probably better over 1m4f. Latrobe has so far failed to reproduce the form of last year’s Irish Derby win so is best treated with caution for now and Star Of Bengal steps out of all-weather handicap company to tackle some proven performers at this level. ADDEYBB would not want the ground to dry out as he loves to get his toe in. He has never won over this trip and is arguably better on a galloping track but got going far too late at Chester last month and may be worth another chance with cheekpieces added. Riven Light was just denied at the Curragh earlier this month and is not out of this either.
