Verdict

As usual a superb curtain raiser to the Royal Ascot festival and Henrythenavigator can get punters off to a good start, Declarartion Of War and Pencil Hill may be the best alternatives. It has been said that quite a few Irish visitors will be heading home early if this O'Brien runner doesn't land this contest, so expect quite a flood of money for this unbeaten colt. The trainer has an excellent record in this event and the emphatic debut victory of the selection suggests he does have another strong contender. He absolutely pulverised subsequent winner Dick Morris and as there is plenty of scope for improvement he is very hard to oppose. The best of the British contingent should be Declaration Of War. Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt took the step up in class in his stride when cleverley beating a decent field at Epsom. The stable has a good line to juvenile form and he will be hard to keep ut of the money. Tracey Collins has made a terrific start to her training career and it would be an amazing feat for her to get a Royal Ascot winner and Pencil Hill has done nothing wrong in two races to date and could be a threat to all. Coasting and Ruff Diamond are two outsiders worth a mention following recent victories, but we expect the roof to be lifted off the grandstand when the Irish welcome Henrythenavigator into the winners enclosure.
