Verdict

A predictably competitive race where compelling cases can be made for many and though he has to give weight to all his rivals, ETON FOREVER is taken to follow up his recent Buckingham Palace success over C&D. Life won't be easy for Roger Varian's charge off a mark of 109, but connections have been notably bullish about him and if he is to make his mark at a higher level, he really needs to be winning this. Noble Citizen is a surprisingly big price given his previous record in the race. He proved no match for Primaeval at Goodwood though he looks to have been campaigned with this race in mind. Global Village won the Victoria Cup last time and is set to re-oppose Bonnie Brae, Brae Hill and Lightning Cloud who were second, fourth and fifth respectively. The first named is sure to be a popular order having justified strong morning support in the Bunbury Cup. Highland Colori attempts to register a four-timer from the lowest draw while Castles In The Air isn't the most prolific of winners but is 5lb lower than when seventh in this contest last year and Raul Da Silva takes off a further 3lb.
