Verdict

POSSOL can leave the form of his reappearance behind and make the most of the weight that he receives from Mahogany Blaze; My Petra is feared most of the remainder. Henry Daly's charge was well held at Chepstow in a Grade 2 hurdle but he was never likely to be seen at his best under those conditions and is far better judged on his third in the Jewson at the Cheltenham Festival. He races from out of the weights but still looks reasonably treated and makes some appeal. He was only half a length behind Oslot in April when in receipt of 3lbs so has the beating of the Nicholls runner on a strict reading of that form. Only a head separated Mahogany Blaze and Oslot when they clashed off levels later that month and the pair left Oceanos Des Obeaux trailing in their wake. Mahogany Blaze was no match for a resurgent Ashley Brook in the Haldon Gold Cup but he has more to offer and is a live player. King Louis and The Hairy Lemon could find this a little hot but My Petra is a game mare who warmed up for this race with a ready success in a Listed hurdle at Wetherby. She was second in the Grand Annual from just a 5lb lower mark, is unexposed over fences and should win more races but those remarks also apply to Possol who is preferred.
