Verdict

Australis never threatened in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last time while there was little between third-placed Blow Your Horn and Raymond in the consolation race for the Plate at the same fixture when Bellatrixsa finished well behind. Speedo Boy won this back in 2018 but was well beaten in last year’s renewal when Andrew Balding trained the winner. The latter runs STAR CALIBER on this occasion and having given the impression this extra distance will suit when runner-up over 1m6f at Chester on his handicap debut, he gets the vote to show further progress. Notation could go well back over today’s trip partnered by Ryan Moore.
