Verdict

MASS RALLY can take home top honours here ahead of Side Glance and Haatheq. Our pick returned from an absence to take second behind the improving Kakatosi, who has gone in since, and fully deserves the 5lb rise he's incurred for that run. With John Gosden's runners finding form and conditions here absolutely ideal, he's taken to find the improvement required to beat Side Glance. Andrew Balding's charge has solid form in some strong handicaps to call upon and deservedly beat a progressive sort from the Gosden yard here last time, benefitting from the step back up to seven, and he should improve even further for trying a mile. He's up 5lbs too and will take all the beating, but there might just be more to come from Mass Rally. Haatheq was behind Side Glance when third last time but a more positive ride will help him to bridge that gap, as will the 5lb pull in the weights. John Dunlop's runner is still improving and should be up to going close off this sort of rating. Ginger Jack is another up 5lbs and Mark Johnston's runner arrives here on a hat-trick but this is much more competitive than the races he's contested lately, so he's taken on along with Don't Call Me, who is unexposed but will find life a lot tougher on this venture south. Highland Knight should hold Zakiy on these terms and on a line through Man Of Action, the horse Side Glance beat last time, is right in the mix here and is an interesting each-way angle into the race but Mass Rally is capable of better and gets our vote.
