In depth

Verdict

Another hugely-competitive event to end a very good day of racing but Bond Diamond, making a quick reappearance following a disappointing Sandown effort, can get back to winning ways. He has been raised six pounds for his Windsor win in April but his trainer would not be bringing him out again so soon unless he felt he was ready to do himself justice. Highland Shot comes here on a three-timer and rates a big danger. Flint River comes here on the back of an AW three-timer but this will be tougher. In races on the straight course, high numbers have an advantage only when the going is testing - and this track can be very testing when wet. Topton won this race from a three-pound lower mark last year and, with Kevin Darley booked, can't be ruled out. Scarrattoo is on a winning mark and it is interesting that Paul Webber, responsible for the selection, also runs Munadil, who has been a little disappointing since his juvenile days. In keeping with a number of these, he's possibly one to keep an eye on.
