Verdict
Some interesting newcomers such as Tim Easterby's Danesmead and Alan Berry's Platinum Chief on view but Russian Valour is taken to make the most of previous experience. Mark Johnston's colt was easy to back on his debut at Newcastle last week but ran on steadily to finish a close third behind a well regarded juvenile. Sure to have benefited from the outing, the son of Fasliyev will know what is required and sets the standard. Danesmead makes plenty of appeal on breeding, being a Danehill Dancer half-brother to six winners including the stable's smart sprinter Good Girl, so should be closely monitored in the market. Platinum Chief is bred for speed and is another to consider while the David Nicholls-trained Sessay is related to smart sprinters such as Sampower Star and is respected.
