Verdict
Torkinking can beat Monolith, with Junkanoo and Ransboro not out of things either. Torkinking deserved his pillar-to-post success at Hexham last time, having been asked to take on Straw Bear and company in the 'Fighting Fifth' at Newcastle previously. Not overburdened as a result, the eight-year-old may prove hard to pass if getting into the lead here. Monolith has the anchor of topweight to overcome, but Len Lungo's charge produced a gutsy effort up the Cheltenham hill when last seen in October, and will not go down without a fight if fit enough. Ransboro may go well off his light weight, and the exposed Junkanoo has to be included in calculations as well, but should not prove up to the task. Torkinking is the pick.
