Verdict

The three-year-old Viscount Loftus is interesting from the bottom of the handicap after his two victories over 5f last year and this is his first start beyond that trip. Tiercel scored twice for Roger Varian in 2016 and showed ability in two starts in the autumn so Rebecca Bastiman will have something to work with this campaign. Areen Heart looked a likely future winner when beaten narrowly at Beverley though didn't run well back there a week later but Kupa River had his first ever start on fast ground at Carlisle last month and ran well enough to be considered for this. LUIS VAZ DE TORRES (NAP) has a fine record on fast ground though it was soft when he won at Wetherby in April. He's only gone up 2lb and, back on a quick surface with Connor Murtagh's claim to help, he can go in again.
