In depth
Verdict
The three-year-old Soapys Sister scored over 6f here in May and possibly wasn't suited by softer ground at Carlisle. The veteran Economic Crisis only just failed to add to her 17 career victories at Musselburgh where she can be rated an unlucky loser. LOMU has returned to Turf in fine form and was only headed close home when carrying a huge weight in this grade at Newmarket. His rider's claim could just give him the edge over Be Proud, up 6lb for last month's course and distance victory, and John Kirkup, though the latter could do with some rain. Neither Get Boosting nor Saluti can be dismissed in an open handicap.
Formwatch
Lomu (IRE) 3-1fav (10-2) Prominent, led halfway, ridden and headed inside final furlong, stayed on, 3rd of 6, 1/2l behind Benefit Street (9-7) at Newmarket 5f hcp (4) gf in Jun.
Get Boosting 33-1 (8-5) Soon lead near side group and 2nd overall, lost 2nd and weakened inside final furlong, 9th of 16, 4 1/4l behind Mokaatil (8-4) at Epsom 5f hcp (2) gs in Jun.
John Kirkup 3-1 (9-7) Towards rear, pushed before 2f out and made headway, switched right before ridden inside final furlong, stayed on strongly, 2nd of 7, 1 3/4l behind Pretty Boy Floyd (9-0) at Haydock 5f hcp (4) sft in May.
Be Proud (IRE) 10-3 (9-6) Steadied start, held up towards rear, smooth headway to track leaders over 1f out, waiting for room until inside final furlong when quickened between horses to lead towards finish, won at Ayr 5f hcp (4) gf in Jun beating Soul Seeker (9-9) by 1/2l, 8 ran.
Economic Crisis (IRE) 6-1 (9-3) Chased leaders on inside, not clear run over 1f out, soon switched right, again short of room and switched right entering final furlong, went 2nd towards finish, ran on, 2nd of 9, 3/4l behind Primo's Comet (9-7) at Musselburgh 5f hcp (5) gd in Jun.
Saluti (IRE) 10-1 (10-1) Blindfold removed a fraction late, held up in rear, switched left over 1f out, soon not much room and still going well, ran on inside final furlong, went 3rd towards finish, 3rd of 12, 1l behind Tanasoq (9-1) at Newcastle 5f hcp (5) pol in Jun.
Soapys Sister 5-1 (9-1) Held up behind leaders, switched left over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, no impression, 5th of 6, 8 3/4l behind Ey Up It's Maggie (9-3) at Carlisle 5f hcp fll (4) gs in May.
