In depth
Verdict
Night In gets a narrow vote of confidence over Brigadore, John Keats and Dorn Dancer, while support for the veteran Indian Spark would be an interesting manoeuvre for each-way punters to consider latching onto. Indian Spark goes well fresh, so his long absence is not really a concern. However, he is now aged thirteen and, although he would a have carried this lot in his heyday, the Jim Goldie-trained gelding faces a stiff test at the weights. Dorn Dancer comes into the reckoning on the pick of her efforts and, as any give underfoot will suit her ideally, she looks set to encounter her ideal conditions. She is a previous course and distance winner, so is respected accordingly. John Keats has been on the premises on numerous occasions and, having last won off a mark of 74, he could be well treated off his current rating. The four-year-old looks the main hope from Jim Goldie's camp, but his long losing run is very off-putting. Brigadore is a consistent type that has paid his way in win and place money when there is sufficient give in the ground. However, he looks weighted to the hilt just now and may just be short of the mark today. Therefore, we go with Night In, who is 2lb better off from the last time he encountered Brigadore. However, he has subsequently run into form and, as he has fewer miles on the clock, he may have a little more to offer when push comes to shove.
