Verdict
This looks to be a match between Armaguedon and Spring Gamble, with the vote going to Armaguedon. The Len Lungo-trained selection was good enough to win a couple of decent bumpers in 2002, and although beaten as favourite on his hurdling debut at Catterick, he showed enough that day to suggest he is more than capable of winning a race of this nature. Spring Gamble has been placed in all six of his career starts to date and rates the obvious danger in a race that lacks strength. Of the others, Milliesome has shown promise in bumpers and Antique Gold looked very promising a couple of years ago but has been plagued by injuries and has not raced for 735 days. The rest need to improve markedly on what they have so far shown to feature here. Overall, then, Armaguedon gets the vote.
